The primary responsibility of a faculty member at Baker College is to advance the College's mission of delivering high-quality education through exceptional teaching, scholarly research, service to the academic community, and a steadfast commitment to the student-first philosophy. Faculty members are responsible for managing class and learning environments, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses within their expertise, maintaining attendance records, submitting grades on time, and providing constructive feedback. They utilize the College's Learning Management System, deliver effective instruction, oversee curriculum rigor and quality, and design engaging, student-centered learning activities. Faculty also integrate community-based learning into the curriculum, assess student learning using various techniques, and communicate results regularly. Additionally, they stay current in their fields, maintain professional qualifications, innovate curriculum development, establish community partnerships, and participate in campus and community events. Faculty engage in scholarly activities and mentor students in community engagement projects.

Requirements

A candidate must hold an Associate's Degree with a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) credential. Preference will be given to those with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or a Master's Degree, along with an LVT credential. Experience in animal anatomy and physiology is highly preferred, in addition to a minimum of three years of clinical experience. Knowledge of the competency and essential skills standards set by an accredited body, such as CVTEA, is essential. Familiarity with in-house chemistry and hematology equipment is a plus. We are particularly seeking individuals with a strong interest in anesthesia, who will also be responsible for teaching both surgery courses and labs.
