Job summary

CSUMB's Center for Teaching, Learning, and Assessment seeks a Teaching & Learning Specialist to support faculty development, plan workshops, and lead learning communities. The role partners with deans, chairs, and faculty to design and test inclusive teaching strategies and measure student learning outcomes.

The position emphasizes research-based pedagogy, development of instructional materials, and collaboration across units, with back‑office and administrative support duties.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in an education-related discipline/field.
• Five years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
• Excellence in undergraduate teaching and development of pedagogy.
• Evidence of leadership in pedagogical approaches relevant to higher education.

Responsibilities

• Support faculty development through planning and running orientations, workshops, and learning communities.
• Facilitate collaboration on teaching initiatives across departments.
• Meet with faculty to design and test new teaching strategies and assess impact.
• Create teaching materials and assessment tools for diverse departments.
• Manage faculty communications and stay current on teaching research.
