Job summary

CSUB Athletics is seeking an Instructional Student Assistant (Learning Specialist) to support scholar-athletes with one-on-one instruction and holistic learning strategies. The role emphasizes teaching students how to learn, time management, and effective study techniques, with preference for candidates who can work up to 20 hours per week in person.

Applicants must be CSUB students, have a minimum 3.25 GPA, and demonstrate empathy, initiative, and experience with diverse student populations.

Qualifications

• Tutoring or Teaching Experience is required.
• Must have initiative, integrity, empathy, patience, and creativity.
• Must be CSUB student (currently enrolled at least 1/2 time).
• Must be able to work 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1-on-1 supplemental instruction in all subjects with focus on lower-division General Education courses.
• Differentiate from traditional ISA by fostering holistic learning supporting motivation, time management, and study skills.
• Teach students how to learn and promote academic integrity.
