Job summary

CSUMB invites applications for a Full-Time Teaching & Learning Specialist to support faculty development and inclusive teaching practices at Monterey Bay. You will collaborate across departments to design teaching materials, run workshops, observe classes, and assess the impact on student learning.

The role extends to coordination of newsletters, use of emerging technologies, and partnership with campus leaders to advance undergraduate education.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in an education-related discipline/field.
• Five years of undergraduate teaching experience.
• Excellence in undergraduate teaching.
• Interest in undergraduate education and pedagogy development.
• Evidence of professional development and leadership in pedagogy.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, supporting, and running faculty development programs using inclusive teaching methods.
• Facilitate collaboration on teaching initiatives across departments.
• Meet with faculty to observe classrooms and design new teaching strategies.
• Work with leadership to determine teaching support needs across colleges.
• Support running student focus groups when requested.
• Create teaching materials and assessment tools for departments of any size.
• Support faculty leaders in assessment, grants, and lecturer programs.
• Stay current on teaching research and share findings with faculty.
• Manage the faculty newsletter and coordinate campus communications.
