Responsibilities

The College of Arts and Sciences at North Park University invites applications for an open rank, full-time, tenure-track position in Mechanical Engineering within the Department of Physics and Engineering, starting August 2025. The department is seeking a candidate who will contribute to the growth of the Mechanical Engineering program as it works toward ABET accreditation.

The successful candidate will teach a full load of engineering courses aligned with their expertise and the department's needs. Additional responsibilities include advising and mentoring undergraduate students, developing a scholarly agenda, and participating in university-wide service. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements

  • Commitment to undergraduate education with a focus on industry relationships.
  • Evidence of professional engineering practice.
  • Alignment with the university’s mission and values.
  • Personal dedication to North Park’s mission of Christian higher education.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills with attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer.
  • Experience in Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat and Mass Transfer, and supervising Engineering Capstone Projects.
  • Fabrication skills using machine shop tools and knowledge of safety protocols.
  • Experience teaching courses in the mechanical engineering curriculum.
  • Active participation in industry organizations and scientific communities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a proactive approach.
  • Proficiency with modern technology.
