Summary

The Communication Program at Saint Xavier University, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track open rank professor position in Communication to join our dynamic undergraduate major which focuses on strategic, media, and sport communication. Although the area of expertise is open, we are particularly interested in candidates who can support and expand coursework in the strategic communication emphasis. The ability to teach a variety of strategic communication courses in social media, leadership, and other organizational communication topics is desired. All faculty in the department also support our university wide general education course in public speaking.

Start date is in the Fall of 2025. Rank depends on credentials and years of experience; salary commensurate with experience.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teach 12 credit hours each semester in communication courses related to one's area of expertise
  • Establish a program of research leading to peer-reviewed publications and presentations
  • Mentor undergraduate students in student-faculty research
  • Provide service to the program, college, and university

Qualifications

    • Doctorate in communication or a closely related discipline (ABD applicants will be considered, contingent on a successful doctoral defense prior to August 1, 2025)
    • Evidence of or potential for excellent teaching, including use of evidence-based best practices in teaching and learning
    • Demonstrated research potential
    • Interest in engaging undergraduate students in research
    • Enthusiasm toward serving a diverse student population
