Job Description

Responsible for teaching Economics courses and assessing learning outcomes in the assigned discipline. Assignments may include alternative delivery methods, evening courses, and multiple sites. Must demonstrate excellence in teaching and service, and a commitment to the mission and values of the community college. Position location is shared between Scott Community College and Clinton Community College.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach courses in accordance with outcomes identified in the established course development model; use effective instructional delivery methods.
  • Participate in the design of appropriate courses and programs of instruction; maintain currency of curriculum and collaborate in curriculum development and revision.
  • Prepare for and meet with classes as scheduled; establish rapport with students.
  • Solicit and use student feedback to improve teaching and learning practices.
  • Create and post a clear, accurate syllabus for each class in CANVAS; communicate course objectives, instructional processes, evaluation policies and methods, and attendance policies.
  • Evaluate and record student performance; provide regular feedback.
  • Maintain appropriate office hours to assist students.
  • Collaborate with support services to assist student success and provide recommended accommodations.
  • Monitor and communicate students’ academic progress; refer at‑risk students using early‑alert tools and other mechanisms; maintain accurate attendance reports; deliver timely grades (4‑week progress, midterm, final).
  • Participate in outcomes assessment measurements adopted by EICC; plan and implement learning strategies; analyze results and make appropriate revisions.
  • Serve on college and district committees, work groups, and task forces.
  • Attend and participate in faculty, college, district, and advisory meetings as appropriate.
  • Assist the college in recruitment and retention of students.
  • Act as an active department team member; demonstrate professionalism at all times.
  • Support the EICC mission, values, and belief in high expectations and high aspirations.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

  • Maintain professional qualifications that meet or exceed those required for the position.
  • Actively maintain professional development activity and records per the Quality Faculty Plan guidelines.
  • Participate in professional meetings and workshops, as appropriate.
  • Engage in college/district professional development activities.
  • Remain active and current in the professional field/discipline.
  • Stay current in pedagogical best practices.
Physical Demands

This role operates in a professional office environment. It routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. occasionally, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in economics, business administration or finance OR a master's degree with at least 12 credit hours in economics, business administration or finance (with at least 6 credits from economics).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Community college teaching or training experience.
