Job summary

University of Michigan is seeking a Faculty Affairs Specialist to provide critical administrative support for promotion and tenure processes, Regents communications, and related faculty affairs matters. The role requires meticulous attention to detail, problem-solving, and strong writing and diplomacy in a fast-paced academic environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience.
  • Minimum of two years related administrative experience in a complex organization, requiring confidentiality, organization, prioritization, and attention to detail.
  • Experience drafting professional written communications and serving as an effective administrative liaison across teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with a variety of stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential information; proficiency with standard business software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Co-manage faculty reference check process, investigate disclosures for risk mitigation, and maintain privacy compliance.
  • Oversee CaseIQ platform tracking, monitor timelines, and follow up with stakeholders to ensure deadline compliance.
  • Co-facilitate the promotion and tenure process on behalf of the Office of the Provost; audit submissions for accuracy and compliance.
  • Direct special initiatives and projects from concept to completion, managing timelines, resources, and stakeholders.
  • Generate and analyze data and reports to support tenure and promotion processes.
  • Maintain follow-up processes to ensure deadlines are met and data from other offices is received promptly.
