Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in Huntsville, AL to lead the stand-up of a new high-complexity production facility. You will design efficient factory layouts, build simulation models (FlexSim, AnyLogic, Plant Simulation) to optimize flow, and apply data-driven and AI methods to maximize throughput.

The role requires 2+ years in manufacturing/industrial engineering, strong AutoCAD skills, and experience with facility layouts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in engineering related to manufacturing with coursework in production layout.
• 2+ years in manufacturing/industrial engineering with facility or workcenter layout experience.
• Experience supporting the build-out of manufacturing facilities.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD for workcenter layouts.
• Familiar with MS Project and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead factory layout design and optimization for a new high-complexity facility.
• Allocate floor space to workcenters and manage sizing with external teams.
• Develop flexible workcenter layouts to meet production rate goals.
• Build and maintain discrete event simulation models to optimize flow and bottlenecks.
• Apply AI/ML and data-driven methods to layout optimization and scheduling.
• Translate engineering requirements into repeatable manufacturing processes.
• Create manufacturing documentation and participate in risk assessments.
• Support capital project cost estimates and business cases.
• Report progress to leadership and drive continuous improvement.
