Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Huntsville is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead the stand-up of a high-complexity greenfield facility. You will design efficient factory layouts, build simulation models, and apply AI methods to maximize production performance.

The role requires a BS in engineering, 2+ years in manufacturing/industrial engineering, AutoCAD proficiency, and experience with MS Project/Excel. Collaboration with architects and suppliers will be essential as you transition from development

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
• 2+ years of Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering experience with facility/workcenter layout experience.
• Experience supporting build-out of manufacturing facilities and workcenters.
• Proficiency using AutoCAD for workcenter layouts.
• Competence with MS Project and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead factory layout design and optimization for a new, high-complexity greenfield manufacturing facility.
• Own and maintain the process for allocating floor space to workcenters.
• Lead workcenter programming and sizing with external architects and engineering firms.
• Create flexible workcenter layouts that minimize capex and support rate requirements.
• Build and maintain discrete event simulation models to optimize layout, throughput, material flow, and bottlenecks.
• Apply layout planning, line balancing, and flow analysis to drive decisions.
• Apply data-driven and AI-enabled methods to layout optimization, maintenance, quality, and scheduling.
• Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions and process diagrams.
