Job summary

JLL is seeking an Operating Engineer to join our team in Fairfax, VA. You will be the technical expert ensuring critical building systems run smoothly, diagnosing issues, and optimizing equipment performance to save energy costs.

You will work on-site in premier properties, handling preventative maintenance, system readings, and safety compliance while collaborating with contractors and internal teams. The role requires hands-on trades experience and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze building systems and diagnose malfunctions.
• Technical competency in at least one major building system (electrical, HVAC, plumbing) with working knowledge of others.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot facility systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, structural, fire safety, BAS).
• Manage parts/inventory, coordinate with contractors, maintain records and calibrations.
• Maintain safe work environment, handle hazardous materials, and respond to equipment failures to minimize downtime.
• Apply multi-skilled knowledge across building systems to complete diverse assignments.
