Job summary

JLL in Fairfax, VA is seeking an Operating/Building Engineer responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing facility systems across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety components.

You will perform preventative maintenance on HVAC, monitor system readings, coordinate with contractors, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with safety standards; a 5+ year track record and CMMS experience are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience maintaining and repairing commercial building systems.
• Analyze operation of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems to diagnose problems.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• Working knowledge of CMMS (Corrigo).
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Physical ability to access equipment components for extended periods.
• Ability to work in varying environmental conditions (heat, sun, rain, cold, day/night).

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, repair mechanical, plumbing, electrical and life-safety systems.
• Perform preventative HVAC maintenance and part replacements.
• Record readings and adjust systems to prevent issues.
• Monitor external contractor work quality and costs.
• Oversee facility services, purchasing, inventory, and maintenance coordination.
• Check tool and instrument inventory for readiness.
• Troubleshoot and repair lighting systems.
• Maintain plumbing fixtures and drain clearing.
• Adhere to safety policies for hazardous materials.
