Facility Operations Assistant 1
Required Qualifications: Per Civil Service standards and specifications. There are no education or experience requirements for this class. Applicants must be physically ableto perform moderate to heavy physical labor. Candidate must be able to perform the physical tasks of the position such as bending, lifting, stretching and climbing and be able to understand and carry out written or oral instructions. Must have the ability to work in confined spaces and from a ladder, scaffolding or man lift over ten feet in height. Must have, keep and maintain the appropriate valid NYS Driver’s License; have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations. Brief Description of Duties:The Facilities Operations Assistant 1 will perform a varietyof relatively unskilled maintenance, repair and related activities assisting skilled andsemi-skilled trades positions in building and structural maintenance, plumbing andelectrical repairs. The Facilities Operations Assistant 1 will accomplish tasks and otherassigned duties in a timely and effective manner; adheres to all departmental policiesand procedures; and may be asked to respond to emergencies.
The selected candidate must successfully clear a background investigation.

Seniority for promotion is the length of service in the Operational Services Bargaining Unit. Seniority applies to vacant non-competitive class positions in salary grades higher than the applicants grade. Applicants must meet the posted qualifications/job requirements, legitimate operating needs of the department and have the ability to perform duties and responsibilities satisfactorily.
At time of submission, candidates must include all relevant work experience and training/education information. Submissions failing to do so, will not be considered.
Upon conditional offer, the State Classified Appointments Unit will ask for proof of relevant experience or training/education if applicable.
