Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician II to perform intermediate maintenance and repair on hospital assets, including HVAC, mechanical and utility systems, and building structures. You will support a safe, compliant healthcare environment and use hand and power tools to complete tasks efficiently.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience performing plant operations and general maintenance in a healthcare facility or similar environment.
• Basic understanding of MEP systems, including a familiarity with Fire Alarm Systems.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate safely in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform intermediate-level maintenance and repair to extend service life of assets, including structures, HVAC, mechanical and utility systems, and grounds.

What You'll Do

• Perform intermediate-level maintenance and repair work to maintain the service life of company assets, including:
  • Physical structures
  • HVAC systems
  • Mechanical and utility systems
  • Grounds and exterior systems
• Support a safe, compliant, and fully operational healthcare environment
• Use a variety of hand and power tools to complete assigned work safely and effectively
• Respond to service requests and preventive maintenance tasks in a timely manner
• Follow safety practices, building codes, and Environment of Care standards
• Apply customer service principles when interacting with patients, visitors, and team members
• Work collaboratively with Plant Engineering leadership and other departments

What We're Looking For

• Education
  • High School Diploma or GED, required
• Experience
  • Two years of experience performing plant operations and general maintenance in a healthcare facility or similar work environment, required (4 years or more, preferred).
  • Basic Understanding of all MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) Systems including a familiarity with Fire Alarm Systems preferred.
• Licensure or Certifications
  • Valid driver’s license, required
• Additional Skills (Required)
  • Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing
  • Ability to apply customer satisfaction standards
  • Knowledgeable in the use of a variety of hand and power tools used in facility maintenance
  • Ability to interact with individuals of all cultures and levels of authority
• Additional Skills (Preferred)
  • Broad knowledge of principles in the design, operation, and repair of mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC equipment
  • Broad knowledge of building codes, electrical codes, fire codes, and The Joint Commission Environment of Care standards
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and electrical schematics
