Our Plant Engineering team helps maintain a safe, comfortable environment for patients, families, and team members. As a Facility Maintenance Technician II, you'll perform a variety of general maintenance and repair work, from plumbing and HVAC to building repairs and upkeep.
This is a second-shift position with a weekend rotation approximately every 7 weeks, offering steady, non-contract work and opportunities to grow with Novant Health.

What You'll Do
- Perform maintenance and repairs throughout the hospital, including:
- Building structures and general repairs
- HVAC systems
- Mechanical and utility systems
- Plumbing systems
- Grounds and exterior areas
- Find and fix a variety of maintenance problems
- Complete general repairs such as unclogging plumbing, repairing drywall, and other building repairs
- Respond to work requests and scheduled maintenance in a timely manner
- Safely use a variety of hand and power tools
- Follow safety rules, building codes, and Environment of Care standards
- Provide friendly and professional service to patients, visitors, and team members
- Work as part of the Plant Engineering team and with other hospital departments
What We're Looking For
Education
- High School Diploma or GED, required
Experience
- Two years of experience performing plant operations and general maintenance in a healthcare facility or similar work environment, required
- Basic understanding of all MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems
Licensure or Certifications
- Valid driver's license, required
Additional Skills - Required
- Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing
- Ability to apply customer satisfaction standards
- Knowledge of a variety of hand and power tools used in facility maintenance
- Ability to interact with individuals of all cultures and levels of authority
Additional Skills
- Broad knowledge of the principles, operation, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC equipment
- Broad knowledge of building, electrical, and fire codes and The Joint Commission Environment of Care standards
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and electrical schematics
