Job summary

Novant Health in Wilmington, NC is seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician II to perform intermediate maintenance on building systems and assets, ensuring a safe, reliable healthcare environment for patients and staff.

You will work under Plant Engineering leadership, maintain HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and grounds systems, use a range of hand and power tools, and respond to service requests with a focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience performing plant operations and general maintenance in a healthcare facility or similar environment.
• Basic understanding of all MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems.
• Familiarity with Fire Alarm Systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain structures, HVAC, mechanical and utility systems.

What You'll Do

• Perform intermediate-level maintenance and repair work to maintain the service life of company assets, including:

  • Physical structures
  • HVAC systems
  • Mechanical and utility systems
  • Grounds and exterior systems
• Support a safe, compliant, and fully operational healthcare environment
• Use a variety of hand and power tools to complete assigned work safely and effectively
• Respond to service requests and preventive maintenance tasks in a timely manner
• Follow safety practices, building codes, and Environment of Care standards
• Apply customer service principles when interacting with patients, visitors, and team members
• Work collaboratively with Plant Engineering leadership and other departments

What We're Looking For

Education

• High School Diploma or GED, required

Experience

• Two years of experience performing plant operations and general maintenance in a healthcare facility or similar work environment, required (4 years or more, preferred).
• Basic Understanding of all MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) Systems, including a familiarity with Fire Alarm Systems preferred.

Licensure or Certifications

• Valid driver’s license, required

Additional Skills (Required)

• Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing
• Ability to apply customer satisfaction standards
• Knowledgeable in the use of a variety of hand and power tools used in facility maintenance
• Ability to interact with individuals of all cultures and levels of authority

Additional Skills (Preferred)

• Broad knowledge of principles in the design, operation, and repair of mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC equipment
• Broad knowledge of building codes, electrical codes, fire codes, and The Joint Commission Environment of Care standards
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and electrical schematics
