Job summary
The Jewish Community Center of Staten Island is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on building systems. You will diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues while responding quickly to maintenance requests and keeping a clean, safe work area.
You will work on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general safety tasks, supporting a dynamic community center.
Qualifications
- Experience performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting building systems.
- Ability to read blueprints, equipment manuals, and technical documents.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on ladders and lifts.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain commercial HVAC equipment.
- Replace lighting fixtures, lamps, ballasts, switches, and fuses; troubleshoot electrical issues.
- Repair faucets, toilets, sinks, valves, and piping; clear clogged drains.
- Repair doors, locks, windows, ceilings, flooring, drywall, and cabinetry; assemble furniture.
- Follow OSHA and workplace safety procedures; maintain maintenance records and work orders.
- Assist with snow removal, landscaping, and setting up rooms for events.
