Job summary

The JCC of Staten Island is seeking an experienced HVAC Maintenance Mechanic to own and operate the HVAC and heating systems across five facilities. You will troubleshoot, maintain 30 units, monitor compressor pressures, and service boilers, dampers, and BMS to optimize performance.

You will perform preventive maintenance and respond to issues, maintaining logs and ensuring safe, compliant operations in a year-round schedule. Strong diagnostics and hands-on skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of commercial HVAC experience.
• Gas Certification HVAC license.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Working knowledge of Building Management System (BMS).
• Must own HVAC gauges and vacuum pump.

Responsibilities

• Clear drain pans and condensate lines; coil maintenance and leak checks.
• Change filters and maintain belts.
• Maintain four hot water boilers and heat exchangers.
• Service auto water fills; replace filters and belts; clean coils.
• Maintain and replace dampers and actuators; adjust controls.
• Maintain heating devices; replace igniters.
• Troubleshoot and repair ~30 HVAC units.
• Diagnose refrigeration by monitoring compressor pressures.
• Replace compressors, contactors, relays, fuses, motors; service VFDs.
• Monitor Building Management System (BMS) for performance.
• Clean condensates and drain lines; refrigerant leak repair.
• Read blueprints and mechanical drawings to diagnose systems.
• Readiness for brazing and other hot work.
