Job summary

The JCC of Staten Island is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform routine inspections of our building systems and equipment. This role involves diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues, and completing preventative maintenance according to established schedules.

You will respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, maintain a clean, safe and organized work area, and work with CMMS to track work orders.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; 3+ years of commercial building maintenance preferred.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems.
  • Ability to read blueprints, equipment manuals, and technical documents.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on ladders and lifts.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain commercial HVAC equipment.
  • Replace filters, belts, motors, contactors, relays, capacitors, and other components.
  • Monitor heating and cooling performance.
  • Assist with seasonal startup and shutdown of HVAC equipment.
  • Report major equipment deficiencies requiring outside contractors.
  • Replace lighting fixtures, lamps, ballasts, switches, receptacles, breakers, and fuses.
  • Troubleshoot basic electrical problems.
  • Maintain emergency lighting and exit signs.
  • Repair faucets, toilets, sinks, valves, and piping.
  • Clear clogged drains.
  • Perform minor plumbing installations and repairs.
  • Repair doors, locks, windows, ceilings, flooring, drywall, and cabinetry.
  • Assemble furniture and equipment.
  • Paint and patch walls as needed.
  • Follow OSHA and workplace safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders.
  • Ensure building systems comply with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Identify safety hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist with snow removal and ice control as needed.
  • Perform minor landscaping and exterior maintenance.
  • Set up and break down rooms for meetings, events, and special programs.
  • Assist vendors and contractors working onsite.

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform routine inspections of our building systems and equipment. This position will include completing preventative maintenance according to established schedules. You will diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and plumbing issues. This position also includes responding promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs, and maintaining a clean, safe and organized work area.

ABOUT YOU

You are a dependable, skilled Maintenance Technician who can perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot building systems, and complete repairs to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our facility. You have experience maintaining commercial buildings and can work independently while responding quickly to maintenance requests. You have time management, customer service and communications skills. You can work on Computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to perform your job.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
HVAC Systems
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain commercial HVAC equipment.

OUR REQUIREMENTS

SALARY

$55,000 - $60,000 Annually

This is a full time, 40 hour per week position.
