Job summary

Joan & Alan Bernikow JCC of Staten Island seeks a Maintenance Technician to perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on building systems. You will diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues and respond promptly to requests and emergencies.

You will manage CMMS tasks, read manuals and blueprints, and maintain a safe, clean work area while supporting HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and grounds operations, with a strong safety focus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of commercial building maintenance experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems.
• Ability to read blueprints, equipment manuals, and technical documents.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on ladders and lifts.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• HVAC: Inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain commercial HVAC equipment.
• Electrical: Replace lighting fixtures and troubleshoot basic electrical problems.
• Plumbing: Repair faucets, toilets, sinks, valves, and piping; clear drains.
• Carpentry & general repairs: Repair doors, locks, windows, ceilings, drywall, and cabinetry.
• Safety & compliance: Follow OSHA and safety procedures; maintain records.
• Grounds & facility support: Snow removal, landscaping, setup/breakdown rooms, assist vendors.
