Job summary

CANPACK Group in Indiana is seeking a facility maintenance technician responsible for day-to-day maintenance of buildings, utilities, and plant infrastructure to keep operations safe and efficient.

You will perform basic repairs, support inspections, document activities, and assist contractors while following safety and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Vocational/technical secondary education in related field.
  • 1–3 years in facility/building maintenance or similar.
  • Experience in industrial or production environments is advantageous.

Job description

Responsible for carrying out day‑to‑day maintenance and basic repair activities related to buildings, utilities, and facility infrastructure to ensure safe, clean, and operational plant conditions. Provides hands‑on technical support for minor maintenance, renovation, and repair works, supports the execution of small investment and facility tasks, and follows internal procedures and applicable safety and regulatory requirements.

DUTIES AND TASKS
  1. Perform regular checks and basic monitoring of the technical condition of buildings, infrastructure, and facility installations to support safe and reliable daily plant operations.
  2. Carry out routine maintenance activities and support scheduled technical inspections related to buildings and facility infrastructure, in line with defined procedures and instructions.
  3. Follow legal, safety, and internal requirements by supporting mandatory inspections and keeping assigned technical records and documentation up to date.
  4. Support external inspection bodies and service providers during audits and inspections by providing access, basic technical assistance, and required documentation.
  5. Identify and report technical issues, damages, and risks related to facility infrastructure, and support corrective or preventive actions as instructed.
  6. Perform minor repair, maintenance, and renovation works within the plant or support external contractors during such works, ensuring safety and adherence to instructions.
  7. Assist with facility maintenance and renovation tasks, including preventive and corrective activities related to buildings, installations, and infrastructure.
  8. Operate and monitor basic facility utilities and systems (such as electricity, water, gas, HVAC, compressed air, and other utilities) according to instructions, reporting any irregularities or failures.
  9. Support basic cost awareness activities by using materials, utilities, and equipment responsibly and reporting abnormalities or losses.
  10. Cooperate with Production, Maintenance, HSE, and other plant departments to support smooth daily operations and facility‑related activities.
  11. Perform cleaning, housekeeping, and general facility upkeep tasks to maintain safe, orderly, and compliant working conditions (if applicable to the role).

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
  • Vocational or technical secondary education (maintenance, construction, electrical or related field)
  • 1–3 years of experience in facility maintenance, building maintenance, technical services, or similar role
  • Experience in industrial or production environment is an advantage
WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Basic knowledge of building infrastructure and maintenance processes
  • Ability to use hand tools and basic maintenance equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office; knowledge of SAP, AutoCAD, or MS Project is an advantage
  • General understanding of reporting, documentation, and technical processes
  • Awareness of Integrated Management Systems and WCM standards is an advantage
  • Basic knowledge of building maintenance and facility infrastructure
  • Basic understanding of utilities and technical installations (e.g. gas, ventilation, fire protection systems)
  • Knowledge of maintenance tools, equipment, and basic repair techniques
  • Basic understanding of technical documentation and drawings
  • Awareness of maintenance processes and facility operations in an industrial environment
  • Basic knowledge of workplace safety rules, HSE standards, and environmental regulations
  • General understanding of reporting, documentation, and record‑keeping processes
  • Awareness of Integrated Management Systems and WCM standards is an advantage

The role requires cooperation with internal plant teams and supporting external service providers during facility‑related maintenance activities, in line with safety and operational requirements.

  • Carry out routine facility maintenance and minor repair works within the plant to support safe and continuous daily operations.
  • Assist and support external contractors and service providers during maintenance, repair, or renovation works, following instructions provided by the supervisor.
  • Perform assigned maintenance and repair tasks and report identified issues, defects, or improvement needs to the responsible supervisor.
  • Follow technical, safety, and regulatory requirements related to buildings, infrastructure, and utilities, and report any non‑compliance or safety concerns.
  • Support basic cost awareness and efficiency efforts by using materials, tools, and utilities responsibly and reporting abnormal usage or damages.
