CANPACK Group in Muncie, Indiana is seeking an experienced front-end equipment technician. You will operate front-end machines, perform rebuilds/repairs, and ensure equipment operates safely and within tolerances.
The role requires mechanical aptitude, ability to read calipers/micrometers, and hands-on maintenance of can manufacturing lines. You will follow safety SOPs, perform setups, inspections, and troubleshoot when out of spec. A degree is preferred; forklift experience a plus.
Operate front-end machines such as coil handling machines, cupping press, body makers, trimmers, and baler.
Understand and comply with position-related safety SOPs and work instructions, especially for lockout/tagout, chemical handling, machine guarding, housekeeping, BRC and personal protective equipment (PPE). Rebuild, repair, or overhaul any of the front end can manufacturing equipment’s and other equipment as needed. Modify, remove, install, adjust, synchronize, or repair equipment or parts as required. This could include large presses and dies, deep drawing and trimming equipment, transfer equipment, various electrical and mechanical control devices. Make proper diagnosis, adjust/repair and set up of assigned equipment. Read and interpret computer information system reports. Work from verbal or written instructions to determine a need for and plan to; repair, overhaul, setup and operate on the type of equipment(s) mentioned above. Using full range of precision measuring and gauging tools, perform required inspection before, during, and after rebuilding, repair, or overhaul. Determine and make most efficient setup and operate machine tools, taking into consideration such things as type of material tolerances to be held, types of cutting tools, coolants, lubricants, and machine tool speeds and feeds. Exhibit a thorough knowledge of machines and mechanical principles involved in the repair and overhaul work, including timing, synchronizing and aligning the mechanical action so that under power the assemblies are mechanically coordinated. Set up and test can manufacturing and other equipment under power testing for mechanical difficulties tracing to their source and correcting. Operate, clear jams, lubricate, clean and add as required necessary direct and indirect materials to equipment to keep operational. Perform any reasonable duties assigned by the management staff, corresponding with this role.
Engineering or Technical Degree preferred. Good Mechanical aptitude. Experience in a Manufacturing facility is a plus. Basic knowledge of US measurement. Ability to use calipers and micrometers. Problem solving skills. Troubleshoot machinery when out of specification. Ability to organize own work. Basic knowledge of computers. Experience in mechanical maintenance and repair is a plus. Ability to operate a forklift. Team Player.
