Job summary

Mauser Packaging Solutions in Memphis, Tennessee seeks an experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician to inspect, diagnose, and repair manufacturing equipment across packaging operations. You will interpret blueprints, perform preventive maintenance, and support reliability initiatives.

You’ll work with hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, and basic electrical systems, applying lockout/tagout procedures and CMMS to document tasks.

Qualifications

  • Industrial Maintenance Certification/Degree required.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understand plant safety guidelines and pass all required safety training.
  • Able to understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, properly use shop mathematics.
  • Must demonstrate and apply principles, methods, techniques, tools and equipment used in the installation, maintenance and repair of industrial/mechanical equipment and machinery.
  • Demonstrate safety practices, safe work methods and safety regulations pertaining to the trade; lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Must work well in team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment and machinery.
  • Install, replace and repair mechanical and basic electrical equipment.
  • Test and troubleshoot using hand tools, gauges and measuring devices.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance using CMMS and detailed record keeping.
  • Requisition tools, equipment and supplies and research new methods.
  • Plan and lay out jobs from blueprints and sketches; maintain records for equipment and machinery.
  • Apply lockout/tagout procedures and follow safety guidelines.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Performs a variety of skilled duties involving in the inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair and servicing of manufacturing, assembly, coating and processing equipment, facilities and machinery associated with the production, storage, and distribution of steel packaging products (i.e, motors, gearboxes, pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyance devices, tubes, rods, seals, shafts, stuffing boxes, gears, bearings, couplings, feed systems, painting, heating/baking/curing equipment, chilling/pump stations, valves, pumps from fractional to lO0hp (vertical turbine, submersible, split case horizontal, right angle, gears, etc.); tests and monitors equipment and machinery for vibration, bearing temperature and output capacity.
  • Installs, replaces and repairs for all mechanical and basic electrical equipment in assigned area.
  • Organizes and conducts testing and troubleshooting using various hand tools, instruments, gauges and measuring device.
  • Ensures timely and accurate completion of preventative maintenance activities, utilizing computerized maintenance management programs; maintains detailed record keeping in support of computerized maintenance management system.
  • Requisitions necessary tools, equipment and supplies.
  • Research new operational methods, techniques and equipment and recommends their application.
  • Plans and lays out jobs from blueprints, drawings, sketches or verbal instructions; maintains records in the form of blueprints, plans and specification for manufacturing equipment and machinery; makes suggestions for system design and operational improvements.
  • Uses lockout/block out procedures to block electrical and other energy sources and operations equipment at panel for maintenance purposes.
  • Follows all safety guidelines and procedures and ensures the Company's safety program is carried out.

  • Proven understanding of hydraulics / pneumatic / mechanics / base electrical knowledge, mechanical drives / gears / gearboxes / conveyors and general mechanical application in manufacturing systems, use and operation of oxyacetylene and cutting torch materials
  • Understanding of basic electrical safety, confined space entry procedures, basic first aid, safety regulations
  • Ability to perform cost estimating and basic techniques of engineering and drafting as they apply to assigned responsibilities; computer applications related to the work; codes, ordinances and regulations pertaining to the trade; mechanical maintenance, crane operation and metals identification
  • Must work well in team environment
Physical Demands
  • Ability to be on feet up to 8-12 hours per-shift.
  • Ability to work overtime when needed including evenings, weekends and possibly holidays.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. They employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move more than 50 pounds with assistance, if needed.
Work Environment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is medium to loud.
