Job summary

City of Waxahachie is seeking an entry-level maintenance worker to perform preventive, routine, and corrective maintenance on City facilities, including buildings and grounds. The role supports various trades with guidance and training as part of the Building & Community Services Department.

Responsibilities include inspecting facilities, completing work orders, and assisting with renovations and project work.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Two years of facility/building maintenance experience.
• Valid Texas State driver's license required at appointment and maintained throughout employment.
• TDLR Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician certification.
• TDLR Electrician licensing or documented apprenticeship hours preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive, routine, and corrective maintenance on City facilities, buildings, grounds, and related infrastructure.
• Repairs involving carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, and other building components.
• Assists with construction, remodeling, renovation, and facility improvement projects.
• Inspects facilities to identify maintenance deficiencies and reports needs for outside contractor services.
• Responds to routine and emergency maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
