The role involves operating boilers, chillers, air compressors, cooling towers, and related equipment, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, and ensuring safety and reliability.

A Minnesota 1st Class Boiler License is required. The position features a 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM schedule with a 2-2-3 rotating pattern and a starting pay of $36.00/hour plus a $2.00/hour base

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minnesota 1st Class Boiler License required.
  • Two or more years of related experience preferred.
  • Three to five years of equipment maintenance preferred.
  • Experience with high-pressure boiler systems preferred.

Facility Maintenance Mechanic I

Schedule: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
Rotation: 2-2-3 Rotating Schedule
Starting Pay: $36.00/hour + $2.00/hour base pay differential

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Facility Maintenance Mechanic I to assist with the operation and maintenance of boilers and facility utility systems within a 24/7 manufacturing environment. This position works with boiler systems, chillers, air compressors, cooling towers, wastewater treatment systems, water softeners, and other facility equipment.

Responsibilities include performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, completing facility repairs, and assisting with projects as assigned. The ideal candidate will work effectively both independently and as part of a team to help maintain reliable operations and minimize downtime.

Essential Functions
  • Monitor and operate facility boilers in accordance with applicable state regulations, including standing watch in a 24/7 environment.
  • Make rounds every two hours through mechanical and air handling areas to inspect equipment and identify potential issues.
  • Monitor process and utility systems to support continuous, efficient, and reliable operations.
  • Perform preventive, scheduled, and corrective maintenance on facility, building, production, and utility equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical and facility systems.
  • Perform general facility maintenance, including repairs to doors, walls, floors, ceilings, and other building components.
  • Assist with the operation and maintenance of chillers, air compressors, cooling towers, wastewater treatment systems, water softeners, and related equipment.
  • Maintain and organize inventory and supplies needed for facility maintenance.
  • Help develop and maintain standard operating procedures and equipment maintenance history.
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs designed to reduce mechanical downtime and minimize equipment failures.
  • Maintain compliance with safety, quality, GMP, and other applicable procedures and requirements.
  • Participate in off-hours emergency coverage as needed.
  • Assist with additional maintenance projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minnesota 1st Class Boiler License required.
  • Ability to work a rotating 12-hour night schedule.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two or more years of related experience preferred.
  • Three to five years of equipment maintenance experience involving mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or related trades preferred.
  • Experience working with high-pressure boiler systems strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems.
  • Knowledge of basic shop math.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Electrician’s License is a plus.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to work in an active industrial environment. Employees may frequently stand, walk, use their hands, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The position may require lifting and carrying 26 to 50 pounds up to 33% of the time. Employees may occasionally be exposed to wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather, extreme heat, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, and elevated work areas. Frequent work near moving mechanical equipment is required. Moderate noise levels are typical.
