Job summary

Dairy Challenge is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to ensure smooth operation of facilities and production equipment. You will diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, perform preventive maintenance, and implement repairs to minimize downtime.

You will adhere to GMPs and SOPs, keep meticulous maintenance records, collaborate with production teams, and mentor others on new equipment and best practices. Evening shift; 8-hour days with overtime available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or vocational training preferred.
• 2–3 years of facility and production maintenance experience.
• Experience with boilers, chillers, and refrigeration systems desired.
• Proficiency with conveyors, case erecting and folding systems.
• Safety knowledge with OSHA standards; LOTO and arc flash desired.
• Strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving abilities.
• Basic math and ability to read schematics; use diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Maintenance Mechanic plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of facilities and production equipment. This position is responsible for:

• Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Identifying mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in equipment and facilities, using diagnostic tools and techniques.
• Preventive Maintenance: Performing routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment operates efficiently and to minimize downtime.
• Repairs and Modifications: Conducting repairs on machinery and equipment, as well as making modifications or upgrades to enhance performance and safety.
• Compliance and Safety: Adhering to all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards, including GMPs and SOPs, to ensure a safe working environment.
• Documentation: Keeping accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections to track equipment performance and compliance.
• Collaboration: Working closely with production teams and other maintenance staff to address equipment issues promptly and support production goals.
• Training and Development: Continuously updating skills and knowledge related to new technologies, equipment, and maintenance practices.

• COMPENSATION:
• Pay range $38.05-48.05 per hour
• Swing and graveyard wage differentials
• Skill level wage differential

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education:
• High school diploma, vocational training, or a related field is preferred.
• Certifications or experience in HVAC, refrigeration, desired but not required.
• Experience:
• 2-3 years of experience in facility and production maintenance environment.
• Experience with boilers, chillers, & refrigeration systems desired but not required.
• Technical Skills:
• Experience with conveyor systems, including, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of case erecting and folding systems, including operation and repair.
• Safety Knowledge:
• Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and compliance with OSHA standards. (LOTO) Lock Out tag out Arc Flash Desired.
• Problem-Solving Abilities:
• Strong analytical skills to diagnose issues related to electro/mechanical systems and perform root cause analysis on equipment failures.
• Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50Lbs, work in confined spaces, and perform physical tasks.
• Communication Skills:
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Tools and Equipment:
• Own basic hand tool and be proficient with power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to navigate through a computer and MS Office.
• Familiarity with (CMMS), MVP is a plus.
• Attention to Detail:
• Strong attention to detail in completing tasks and documenting maintenance.
• Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage time efficiently.
• Teamwork and Collaboration:
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to assist and train others as needed.
