Commonwealth of Kentucky operates the Joseph "Eddie" Ballard Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, KY, seeking a self-motivated Facility Maintenance Worker II to handle general maintenance, grounds care, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks at a 156-bed long-term care facility.

The role includes coordinating staff, performing janitorial duties, and maintaining and repairing building systems, with a 40-hour work week and overtime eligibility in the Executive Branch.

Qualifications

• One year of building maintenance, grounds maintenance, general trades, skilled trades, moving services, or mechanical maintenance experience.
• Formal training in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Must be 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the work of employees and assist the supervisor in the maintenance of buildings, ground and equipment.
• Perform janitorial duties in maintaining buildings and adjacent areas.
• Maintain and repair plumbing, sewerage systems, electrical systems and associated equipment.
• Make carpentry repairs to buildings and equipment.
• Upkeep in grounds maintenance (primarily lawn mowing and trimming).
• Paint and other upkeep projects pertaining to buildings.
