Purpose:
The Facilities Maintenance Assistant assists in performing preventative maintenance and repair on equipment, systems, and facility structures. This ensures operational safety, efficiency, and compliance with all relevant regulations. This role responds independently to maintenance needs, including after-hours on-call responsibilities and supports recordkeeping, communication, and departmental coordination under the Director of Plant Operations.
Follow preventive maintenance schedules on all large equipment. Perform plumbing, electrical, woodwork repairs and paint as requested. Maintain miscellaneous tools and equipment. Maintain facility’s appliances, heating and cooling systems as needed. Work independently and carry radio as directed by Supervisor. Cover all maintenance calls during week and weekends after hours. When “on-call”, call the Director of Plant Operations if repairs cannot be made. Assure maintenance schedules are followed. Keep in constant communication with the Director of Plant Operations and alert of any problems that pertain to your job or the maintenance department. Attend all required in-services and trainings. Ensure compliance with all federal and state rules and regulations. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Plant Operations.
Required Qualification:
High School Diploma/GED required.
One (1) year experience in Facilities Maintenance required.
Must have Basic understanding of electrical and other system.
Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods required.
Working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices required.
Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certificate in a similar trade and or experience in a related field preferred.
Two (2) years’ experience in Facilities Maintenance preferred.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$ 17.00-Negotiable
