Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent is required.
• 5 years experience in a department, or graduate of a certified HIM program with 1 year HIM experience.
• RHIA/RHIT preferred
• Acknowledgement of Paternity certification required.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day facility-based HIM operations and staff, including record pickup and reconciliation, release of information, and birth certificate/paternity processing.
• Serve as key HIM contact for facility implementation of activities and project core teams.
• Handle all patient amendments following policy and guidelines.
• Perform facility unbilled activities including physician query follow up and incomplete record follow up.
• Collaborate with facility leaders to monitor unbilled reports and suspension processes.
• Ensure compliance with Medical Staff Bylaws/Rules and Regulations and manage physician notification processes regarding medical records.
• Build and maintain relationships with ancillary departments and unit managers for optimal record management.
• Coach team members through productivity and quality monitoring and appropriate discipline.

Skills

RHIA/RHIT preferred

Paternity certification required

Education

Certified HIM program + 1 year HIM experience
