Job summary

The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a Facility Director 1 to lead the Elbert Shaw RYDC in Dalton, GA. You will oversee the operation and administration of a correctional institution, implement security policies, and direct supervisory staff to ensure safety and compliance.

This leadership role requires strong experience in corrections, staff development, budgeting, and program coordination, with a focus on professional and efficient service delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and four years of directly job-related experience in criminal justice or correctional system, two years of which with management experience.
• Or four years of supervisory custodial experience in a criminal justice or correctional system, two years at a level equivalent to a manager in a law enforcement setting.
• Or four years of directly related experience in a criminal justice or correctional system, eighteen months of which experience is required at the lower-level Mgr, Correctional Administration.

Responsibilities

• Direct and monitor state prison security functions to maintain custody and security of prisoners.
• Identify training needs and provide guidance and training to correctional staff.
• Hire, train, evaluate, and, when necessary, discipline corrections employees.
• Manage human resources and administrative activities for corrections staff.
• Oversee operations of correctional facilities and detention centers.
• Monitor budget activities of correctional facilities.
• Inspect operations, programs, and conditions.
• Oversee inspections, searches, investigations, and evaluations.
• Perform crisis response and intervention in emergencies.
• Plan and coordinate correctional programs and activities.
