Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical billing, accounts receivable and invoicing concepts.
• Ambulance or EMS billing experience is preferred.
• Experience with facility, institutional, or contracted billing is helpful.
• Ability to read and understand invoices, statements, and contract terms.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process facility invoices according to billing schedules and contractual requirements.
• Review transports to determine facility responsible for payment and ensure correct charges.
• Generate invoices and CMS-1500 claim forms or other supporting documentation.
• Verify patient, transport, facility and billing information for accuracy prior to invoicing.
• Maintain weekly and monthly facility billing schedules and ensure timely invoicing.
• Follow up with facilities on unpaid or aging balances and document progress.
• Research and resolve payment discrepancies and adjust accounts as needed.
• Serve as primary billing contact for assigned facilities and respond to inquiries.
