Job description

7 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend/overtime work.

Job Summary

We are seeking an Equipment Technician for a temporary 3-month assignment. Full-time employment may be offered based on performance evaluations by peers and the department manager. The position is located at Biosciences Laboratories Irvine (BLI) in Irvine, CA, and involves responsible maintenance of cGMP Utilities, Manufacturing equipment, HVAC systems, clean rooms, and facilities to support GMP pharmaceutical/biotechnology operations in a safe and compliant manner. The technician will troubleshoot and respond to breakdowns, emergencies, and after-hours calls.

Job Details
  1. Perform preventive maintenance on a variety of cGMP utilities, manufacturing equipment, HVAC, and facility systems in compliance with GMP, safety, and applicable regulations.
  2. Coordinate, perform, and document maintenance activities such as monthly, semi-annual, and annual PMs in CMMS (MAXIMO).
  3. Process purchase orders for maintenance spare parts and service providers.
  4. Support facility and utilities non-conformances and assess their impact on manufacturing, processes, and equipment systems.
  5. Complete all required training within Facilities department SOPs and support SOP revisions as directed by the Facilities Manager.
  6. Assist in internal and external audits for the Facilities department.
  7. Adhere to Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) procedures and contribute to EHS performance improvements.
  8. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate or technical degree, or high school diploma with at least 7 years of related experience in a GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. Experience in predictive maintenance and mechanical/electromechanical fields is preferred.
  • Experience with GMP utilities, manufacturing equipment, HVAC systems, and pharmaceutical facility maintenance and calibration programs.
  • Proficiency with maintenance programs and CMMS software (MAXIMO).
  • Knowledge of change management, non-conformance investigations, and CAPA processes.
  • Technical competence with systems such as RODI & WFI water systems, clean steam, HVAC, clean rooms, and client systems. Experience with GMP manufacturing equipment like fermenters, bioreactors, CIP, SIP, autoclaves, washers, BSCs, and waste inactivation is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools; working knowledge of Data Acquisition/SCADA systems is highly desired.
