Job summary

Pegasus Development is hiring a Facilities Technician for the day shift at a private investment holding company in the Plaza District. You will fix defects on the first shift, walk every floor each morning, and ensure the building meets a flawless standard before the first arrivals.

You are the craft seat for the day half of the building's two shifts, reporting to the Director of Facilities. Expect an early start, strict attention to finish quality, and close collaboration with the Evening

Responsibilities

• Complete same-day corrections with photos.

• Direct licensed trades by vendors and verify work completed.
• Handoff to the Evening Technician between 2:00–3:00 p.m.
• Coordinate weekend/holiday rotation with the Director and Evening Technician.
• Record floor condition scores and review preventive maintenance with the Director.

Location: Midtown Manhattan, New York, NY (on site, five days per week)

Employment type: Full time, hourly (non-exempt)

Standard: Detail-first and exacting; the building notices everything

Shift: 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; one-hour handoff with the Evening Technician

Reports to: Director of Facilities

Pay range: $40.87 to $48.08 per hour ($85,000 to $100,000 annualized at 2,080 hours)

Target start: On or before October 16, 2026

ABOUT THE ROLE

Pegasus Development is hiring a Facilities Technician for the day shift at a private investment holding company in the Plaza District, an environment where the finish level is the product. You are the craft seat for the day half of the building's two shifts, equal in standing to the Evening Technician and reporting directly to the Director of Facilities.

Every physical defect in the building is yours to fix the same day or stage to the vendor bench: touch-up paint, wall and finish repair, hardware, doors, and lighting kept to uniform color and output. You walk every floor each morning before the first arrival. The building is perfect before 7:30 a.m.

THE STANDARD

The standard here is set by the people who own the floors, and their reference points are the best hotels and private residences in the world. Nothing is judged against good enough for an office. A defect is anything a principal would notice, reported or not: a scuff at baseboard height, a touch-up visible at arm's length under the room's own light, a lamp a shade warmer than its neighbor, a door that closes a half-second late. This seat exists to find these before the first arrival, fix them the same day, and prove the fix with a photograph.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Walk every floor at 6:30 a.m. against the written standard; correct on the spot or log with a clock running
• Complete same-day corrections, photographed on open and close
• Carry the preventive maintenance schedule, the asset register, warranty tracking, and the attic stock (paint codes, carpet tiles, millwork finishes, lamp stock) so a repair never waits on materials
• Serve as first response on conference room technology hardware, access control hardware, and signage
• Direct and verify licensed trade work performed by the vendor bench
• Run the 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. handoff to the Evening Technician: open work orders, the day's incident log, the evening's commitments
• Coordinate the weekend and holiday rotation shared with the Evening Technician, confirmed by the Director
• Walk and record floor condition scores weekly; review preventive maintenance completion with the Director

WHAT YOU BRING

• An exacting, uncompromising attention to detail: color-matched touch-ups invisible at arm's length, hardware aligned, lamps uniform in color and output, every fix photographed and every log entry complete
• Six or more years in skilled facilities craft: finish carpentry, wall and surface repair, paint touch-up and color matching, door hardware, and lamping
• Experience in luxury hotel, Class A office, gallery, or high-end residential environments where the finish level is the product
• Comfort with work order platforms, photo documentation, and a measured standard
• An early start and a physical, on-your-feet day that closes with the early-afternoon handoff

THIS SEAT IS NOT FOR YOU IF

• You match paint by eye and call it close. Close is visible.
• You skip the photograph when the fix is small.
• You leave a defect for the next shift without logging it.

HOW SUCCESS IS MEASURED

• Priority 1 defects fixed or masked within two hours
• Preventive maintenance completion at 95% or better
• Every fix photographed; the handoff landing clean, every day
• Zero findings on the principal's own walk
• Zero repeat defects: a defect fixed once is fixed

HOW WE HIRE FOR THIS

The interview includes a floor walk. You will be asked what you see, and the answer decides whether the conversation continues. Finalists complete a short practical exercise: one defect log entry with the photograph, and a color match we check under the room's own light.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Hourly pay $40.87 to $48.08, which annualizes to $85,000 to $100,000 at 2,080 hours; a good-faith range at the time of posting, and the offer depends on experience.
