Job summary

Fountain House is seeking a Facilities Technician to perform routine maintenance and repair tasks on a variety of equipment, machinery, and systems across multiple sites in New York. You will help keep facilities safe, clean and functioning in a manner aligned with the organization’s mission.

The role requires hands-on skills in carpentry, plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems, the ability to read manuals and schematics, and strong teamwork with staff and members.

Qualifications

• Must be dependable, flexible, proactive, approachable and able to take initiative.
• Ability to read technical manuals and drawings and learn new systems.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; teamwork with staff and members.
• Physical stamina and dexterity; ability to lift 50 lbs or more.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and troubleshoot machinery and equipment; identify issues.
• Perform routine maintenance such as cleaning, carpentry, and parts replacement.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, HVAC and plumbing problems.
• Read manuals and schematics to perform repairs.
• Operate hand and power tools; maintain maintenance records.
• Ensure safety guidelines are followed; perform preventative tasks.
• Collaborate with maintenance staff and managers to prioritize needs.
• Respond to emergency repair requests promptly.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area; inspect property for safety.
