About Us
New Horizons is a mission-driven organization supporting youth and young adults experiencing homelessness in Seattle. We are a collaborative, caring, and dynamic team working to create a safe and empowering space for our community. We’re currently seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Facilities Technician to help us maintain a safe, organized, and well-functioning environment across our facilities and programs.

Position Summary
The Facilities Technician plays a key role in ensuring New Horizons’ physical spaces are safe, operational, and well-maintained. This part-time position supports our staff, volunteers, and guests by responding to maintenance needs, organizing resources, supporting inventory, and helping with general upkeep of our facilities and vehicles.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on solving problems, is comfortable working independently, and values collaboration. A successful candidate will bring technical aptitude, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to pitch in wherever needed. The Facilities Technician reports to the Director of Operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Track and organize work orders and maintenance requests using our ticketing system
  • Perform light repairs, scheduled preventive maintenance, and minor furniture assembly/moving
  • Troubleshoot issues and support the Director of Operations with service mitigation
  • Maintain records of building maintenance and vendor services
  • Support the inventory and security of physical and IT assets
  • Conduct routine building audits and upkeep checks
  • Escort and support outside vendors during site visits
  • Assist in maintaining and coordinating upkeep of organizational vans
  • Work closely with the Operations team to meet facility needs
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License
  • Proven ability to stay organized and adaptable in a fast-paced setting
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 and basic IT troubleshooting
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Collaborative and customer-focused approach to problem-solving
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Comfort with handling sensitive or confidential information
  • Willingness to work hands-on and perform physical tasks

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in a facilities or maintenance role
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness
  • Familiarity with office equipment (copiers, fax machines, etc.)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain stationary for up to 20% of the time
  • Ability to move throughout the office to access equipment and supplies
  • Capable of lifting boxes up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Frequent bending, lifting, and use of hands/wrists
  • Comfortable communicating clearly with coworkers, volunteers, and guests

Benefits for Part-time employees (under 30 hours of regular work schedule per week/variable schedule)
