Job summary

WorkSmart Staffing is recruiting a 1st shift Facilities Technician in Arden, NC. The full-time role focuses on routine maintenance and repair of facility systems including ammonia refrigeration, boilers, and waste water treatment, with a strong emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance.

You'll perform inspections, support maintenance schedules in MaintainX CMMS, coordinate with contractors, and help drive improvements in reliability and food safety across the operation.

Qualifications

• Experience in facilities maintenance within manufacturing or food/beverage industry.
• Solid understanding of OSHA regulations and facility management practices.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with maintenance management tools and software.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repair tasks on facility equipment and systems (e.g., Ammonia Refrigeration, Boilers, Compressed Air, Waste Water).
• Conduct regular inspections of equipment and safety gear to identify issues and address them proactively.
• Develop and implement maintenance schedules using MaintainX CMMS.
• Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for repairs and projects.
• Support safety and compliance programs in line with OSHA standards.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities and equipment status for reliability and compliance.
• Collaborate with other departments to meet facility and compliance needs.
• Assist in emergency preparedness planning and response strategies.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of facility operations and safety performance.
• Ensure safety, quality, and food safety by following company rules and escalating concerns.

Location: Arden, NC Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire Shift: 1st shift Schedule: Wednesday - Sunday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM Pay: $27-$30/hr

What you'll do

• Perform routine maintenance and repair tasks on facility equipment and systems (Ammonia Refrigeration, Boilers, Compressed Air Systems, Waste Water Treatment, etc.), ensuring optimal functionality, and maintaining regulatory requirements.
• Conduct regular inspections of facility equipment (Fire Extinguishers, Eye Wash stations, Dock Equipment) to identify potential issues and address them proactively.
• Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance schedules and procedures using the MaintainX CMMS system.
• Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and maintenance projects.
• Support the implementation of safety and compliance programs in accordance with OSHA regulations and other applicable standards.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment status, and repair needs to ensure equipment reliability and OSHA compliance.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure facility needs are met and operational efficiency is achieved.
• Assist in emergency preparedness planning, ensuring response strategies are up-to-date and effective.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance facility operations and safety performance.
• Ensure safety, quality, and food safety by following company rules and standards, enforcing the requirements, and communicating violations or concerns to the leadership team.

What we're looking for

• Relevant certifications are a plus but not required.
• Experience in facilities maintenance, especially within the food and beverage sector or a manufacturing environment.
• A solid understanding of OSHA regulations and facility management practices.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• The ability to collaborate with various departments to ensure facility and compliance objectives are met.
• Familiarity with maintenance management tools and software.
