Job summary

Lumentum in Greensboro, NC is hiring a motivated Facilities Technician to support day-to-day maintenance and operations in a semiconductor fab. This role requires hands-on experience with building systems and a continuous-improvement mindset, including CMMS work orders and shift-based coverage.

The position operates on a compressed night shift from 6:50pm to 7am, offering exposure to critical utility systems and opportunities to contribute to uptime and safety in a fast-paced manufacturing

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Experience with closed-loop water systems and waste treatment systems.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Solid understanding of building systems including air compressors, HVAC, water and vacuum pumps.
• Excellent analytical, mechanical and electrical skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• CMMS experience and documentation duties.
• Ability to work compressed work week 6:50pm–7am.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate building utility systems and treatment equipment.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on facilities equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair down equipment and systems.
• Improve equipment uptime with Facilities Engineers.
• Collaborate with vendors and field service reps.
• Use CMMS to write work orders and document tasks.
• Attend shift handoffs and communicate daily activities.
• Respond to system alarms via Building Management System.
• Collect data during shifts to ensure proper operation.
• Provide shift coverage when a peer is absent.
• Perform 6S in assigned areas.

We are seeking a motivated Facilities Technician who will support facilities operations and day-to-today maintenance repairs in Greensboro, NC Semiconductor Fab.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in facilities operations & repairs with operational discipline and a continuous-improvement mindset.

This position is a compressed night work week shift 6:50pm to 7am

Role and Responsibilities:

• Monitor and operate the Facilities Central Utility Building and support equipment including hot water generators, chillers, cooling towers, air systems, closed loop water systems, DI Water system, wastewater treatment, toxic gas monitoring, acid waste neutralization system, vacuum pumps, and electrical distribution
• Perform scheduled and un-scheduled maintenance on Facilities equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair down equipment and systems
• Work with Facilities Engineers to improve and increase equipment uptime
• Work with vendors, field service and technical representatives
• Participate in tool installations, building construction projects, and all other day-to-day maintenance activities.
• Utilizing CMMS to write work orders, respond, and make entries to document all work performed on equipment
• Attend shift pass-down meetings and communicate daily activities
• Wear required PPE including respirator when working around chemicals
• Using Building Management System, respond to Facilities system alarms and take necessary corrective action to prevent impact to manufacturing operations (Interruptions to Production)
• Collect and interpret data collected from Facilities equipment during shift walks to ensure proper operation of the Facilities systems and identify potential problems
• Provide shift coverage when peer is off
• Perform 6S of assigned areas

Qualifications and Education:

• High School Diploma is required
• Experience in closed-loop water systems, waste treatment systems, HVAC, and electrical systems
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Solid understanding all building systems including Air Compressors, HVAC, water and vacuum pumps, and plumbing
• Excellent analytical, mechanical, and electrical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Computer skills with both non-Windows and Windows operating systems
• Flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and responsibilities
• Hands-on participation, highly motivated, and strong sense of ownership
• Ability to work in fast paced, high-volume production environment
• Applicants must be able to work a compressed work week shift 6:50pm to 7am

Preferred Qualifications:

• A.A. Degree
• Hold a current license/certification in areas such as Electrical Trainee Certificate, HVAC/Refrigeration, Journeyman or related
