Job summary

Sunnyside Communities is seeking a Buildings Tech Manager to assist the Assistant Director with daily operation, maintenance, and upkeep of Sunnyside’s buildings and facilities. You will provide hands-on leadership, coordinate work orders, and oversee technicians to maintain a safe, comfortable environment for residents and staff.

The role requires five years in maintenance, strong leadership, and excellent communication, with on-call duties and occasional after-hours coverage.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Education/experience equivalent to completion of a vocational program preferred.
• Previous experience in building, facilities, property, or related maintenance required.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Minimum of five years of experience in general maintenance or related field preferred.
• Strong computer skills and ability to learn digital work-order, preventative maintenance, scheduling, purchasing, and communication systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day guidance and technical support to Building Technicians.
• Coordinate daily departmental activities, staffing, priorities, and work assignments.
• Review, prioritize, assign, and monitor work orders; follow up on delays.
• Monitor preventative maintenance activities and document completion.
• Serve as a working departmental float and provide hands-on maintenance support.
• Perform general building maintenance and repairs (electrical, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC).
• Assist with high-priority, time-sensitive, and emergency maintenance requests.
• Train, mentor, onboard, and develop employees.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, safety, and customer service.
• Assist with purchasing, invoices, expenses, supplies, equipment, and cost tracking.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, service providers, and other departments.
