Job summary

Sunshine Retirement Living is seeking a Maintenance Coordinator/Handyman to oversee preventative maintenance for a senior living Community, including buildings, grounds, and safety systems. The role may extend to back-up community driving duties as needed.

Requirements include 2+ years in hands-on maintenance (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC), ability to lift 100 lbs, and a valid driver’s license with clean record. Strong communication and customer service skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to work in a team and maintain professional conduct
• Excellent customer service and organizational skills
• Capable of lifting up to 100 pounds and operating power tools safely
• Two years of hands-on maintenance experience in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, etc.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record and insurance
• Willingness to perform emergency repairs and coordinate subcontractors when needed
• Meet health and safety requirements and pass background checks

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair Community interior and exterior, and equipment, including resident apartments, as directed by leadership
• Inspect the Community and monitor Maintenance log daily to address concerns
• Implement maintenance programs (HVAC, carpet, mold, etc.) and meet repair deadlines
• Order maintenance supplies and coordinate external service providers
• Assist in monitoring capital improvement projects and safety programs
• Provide input on maintenance repairs and equipment replacements to leadership
• Ensure safe operation of mechanical rooms and proper storage of supplies
• Perform emergency maintenance on-call and assist housekeeping in deep cleaning
• Cross-train as needed and participate in safety committee meetings
• Comply with Hazard Communication Program and SDS guidelines
