Job summary

Oregon Department of Transportation in Salem seeks a Building Manager for Mill Creek and Materials Lab facilities. You will oversee multiple sites, manage budgets, coordinate with contractors, and support safety and emergency preparations to ensure reliable operations.

The role requires strong facilities knowledge, contractual oversight, and collaboration across teams to maintain a secure, efficient multimodal transportation environment.

Qualifications

• Three years of technical-level experience or a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Valid U.S. driver license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, evaluate and refine strategic plans for buildings and assets.
• Track facility expenditures and support budget planning.
• Coordinate with staff and contractors for timely issue resolution (security, HVAC, plumbing).
• Serve as contract administrator for facility-related agreements (mail, janitorial, vending, leases).
• Provide project management oversight for relocations and workstation designs.
• Maintain Mill Creek facilities manual with annual updates.
• Participate in safety and emergency committees and act as site emergency coordinator.
• Prepare reports for branch management by analyzing data and recommendations.
• Gather input from managers to prioritize improvements to building systems.
