Job summary

NIST is seeking a Facilities Safety & Compliance Officer to protect employees and facilities across the Boulder campus. Provide safety oversight for construction, renovation, and maintenance; conduct inspections; review safety plans; issue permits; and drive corrective actions to reduce risk.

As COR and Project Manager for safety-related contracts, you will lead investigations, design training programs, and advise on codes, hazardous materials handling, and environmental health programs.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-10 level in safety programs and inspections.
• Experience reviewing safety plans, conducting hazard analyses, and issuing work permits.
• Experience in investigations, root-cause analysis, and safety training delivery.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily safety oversight for campus maintenance and construction operations and review contractor safety plans.
• Conduct facility inspections, hazard assessments, and workplace safety surveys to identify violations.
• Lead safety incident investigations and deliver safety training programs; serve as COR for safety contracts.
