Job summary

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) seeks a Facilities Safety & Compliance Officer to protect employees, contractors, and facilities by identifying hazards and ensuring safe operations across the Boulder campus.

You will provide safety oversight for construction, renovation, and maintenance activities; conduct inspections; review safety plans; issue permits; and drive corrective actions.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 (ZT-III at NIST) level.
• Experience providing technical assistance, consultation, and guidance on mechanical safety programs, including equipment and workplace inspections during operations such as testing, maintenance, renovations, and construction.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety oversight for construction, renovation, and maintenance activities across the Boulder campus.
• Conduct inspections and review safety plans to ensure compliance.
• Issue permits and drive corrective actions to prevent injuries and reduce risk.
