Environmental Health & Safety, Sustainability and Emergency Management (EHSSEM) is responsible for the institution's safety training, recycling and environmental programs, medical and solid waste disposal, laboratory, construction and occupational health safety, fire safety, construction, the Joint Commission emergency and continuity planning, and building systems.
Fire Safety and Construction maintains a code-compliant environment through experience, training, inspections, and maintenance of all life safety systems. Our goal is to provide a safe environment for all patients, employees, and visitors.

SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Facilities Project Inspector position is to represent Facilities Management projects by providing quality control and inspection expertise in architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural systems. This role involves ensuring materials and equipment in various phases of manufacture, shop, or field fabrication, delivery, or installation comply with contract documents.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Prepares reports of inspections.

- Inspects architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, or plumbing systems for compliance with contract provisions and standards.
- Reviews plans and specifications for errors, omissions, and conflicts, referring issues to the Architect, Engineer, or Project Manager.
- Ensures materials conform to specifications and approved shop drawings, overseeing removal of non-compliant materials.
- Plans and oversees required tests.
- Ensures proper alignment and balancing, and corrects deficiencies.
- Prepares and maintains job records, including test results.
- Works with contractors, consultants, and MD Anderson representatives to resolve problems.
- Participates in overhead and beneficial occupancy inspections.
REQUIREMENTS
Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Sciences, or related field. Three years of project management/construction management experience or ten years in the construction trade, including one year of supervisory experience. Additional years of relevant experience may substitute for education on a one-to-one basis.
Preferred: Journeyman Plumber License.
