Job Title: Facilities Project Inspector

Ideal candidate: Journeyman Plumber.

Department: Environmental Health & Safety, Sustainability and Emergency Management (EHSSEM)

This department is responsible for safety training, recycling and environmental programs, waste disposal, laboratory, construction and occupational health safety, fire safety, emergency planning, and building systems management.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct Fire and Life Safety Inspections, including stairwells, fire alarm systems, and fire sprinklers.
• Perform fire drills across all institution buildings.
• Oversee fire extinguisher inspections and maintenance.
• Inspect fire and smoke dampers.
• Review plans and code compliance.

Summary:

The primary purpose of this role is to provide quality control and inspection services for Facilities Management projects, ensuring compliance of materials and equipment with contract documents across architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural systems.

Job Specific Competencies:

• Program Implementation: Perform inspections.
• Program Support: Prepare inspection reports.
• Other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Inspect systems for compliance with contract provisions and standards.
• Review plans for errors or conflicts, consulting with architects or engineers as needed.
• Ensure materials conform to specifications and oversee removal of non-compliant materials.
• Plan and oversee testing procedures.
• Ensure proper alignment and balancing, correcting deficiencies.
• Maintain records of tests and inspections.
• Collaborate with contractors, consultants, and MD Anderson representatives to resolve issues.
• Participate in overhead and occupancy inspections.

Qualifications:

Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; three years of project or construction management experience, or ten years in construction trades with supervisory experience. Equivalent experience may substitute for education on a one-to-one basis.

Preferred: Journeyman Plumber License.
