Job summary

The Jewish Board is seeking a dedicated porter to maintain cleanliness, safety, and sanitary conditions across program facilities in New York. The role covers offices, kitchens, bathrooms, corridors, and common spaces, with responsibilities including floor care, surface sanitation, and use of janitorial chemicals.

Candidate must have three years' experience as a cleaner/maintainer, HS diploma or GED preferred, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years' experience as a cleaner/maintainer of diverse commercial space.
• HS diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be proficient in speaking, reading and writing English at HS level.
• Driver's license mandatory; may be required to drive agency vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance of program offices, kitchens, bathrooms, common areas, elevators, lobbies, corridors, stairwells, loading docks, and more.
• Safely operate cleaning equipment and handle janitorial chemicals.
• Snow removal and proper waste/refuse management according to NYC code.
• Move furniture for events and program needs; support basic repairs as needed.
• Inspect and report deficiencies; participate in fire drills and safety trainings.
