Job summary

The Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services in New York City is seeking a Porter to maintain cleanliness, safety, and sanitary conditions across program facilities.

This physically active role covers daily cleaning, floor care, waste removal, basic repairs, and coordination with maintenance staff. A valid driver’s license and prior janitorial experience are required; a HS diploma is preferred. We serve 45,000 New Yorkers every year.

Qualifications

• Three years’ experience as a cleaner/maintainer of diverse commercial space.
• Must be proficient in speaking, reading and writing English at HS level.
• Driver’s license is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Daily maintenance, cleaning, dusting of offices, kitchens, bathrooms, common areas, elevators, lobbies, corridors and more.
• Clean and sanitize surfaces, fixtures, glass, and replenish supplies as required.
• Perform floor care including sweeping, mopping, waxing, buffing and basic scheduling.
• Move furniture for events and assist with minor repairs as needed.
• Operate basic building systems and ensure fire regulations are followed.
• Perform light grounds work and coordinate with maintenance staff on projects.
• Submit supply lists and maintain inventories; attend required training.
