Job summary

County of Galveston is seeking a Maintenance & Operations Manager to oversee daily operations and service delivery of county facilities, ensuring buildings and systems are safe, reliable, clean, and operationally ready. Reports to the Assistant Facilities Director and leads maintenance and custodial teams across multiple sites.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in a related field and at least five years of facilities experience, including supervisory duties; preferred certifications include

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Public Administration, or a related field.
• At least five years of progressively responsible facilities maintenance and operations experience, including supervisory or management duties.
• Experience managing work order systems, preventive maintenance programs, and building systems operations.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise Maintenance and Custodial Supervisors and oversee staffing, scheduling, and performance expectations.
• Ensure facilities are safe, functional, clean, and ready across multiple locations.
• Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs and monitor building systems and asset condition.
• Manage work order intake, prioritization, assignment, and completion to meet standards and service levels.
• Coordinate with departments, vendors, and safety/compliance requirements; respond to facility disruptions and emergencies.
