Job summary

Galveston County Human Resources is seeking a skilled Facilities Technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on county buildings, equipment, and facilities systems.

The role requires diagnosing problems, using CMMS to manage work orders, and coordinating with vendors. Heavy emphasis on safety, quality, and timely service, with after-hours and emergency response as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Requires three years of progressively responsible experience in building or facilities maintenance or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Independently receives, prioritizes, evaluates, and completes preventive and corrective maintenance work orders.
• Uses CMMS to manage work orders, document diagnostics, and update status.
• Responds to work orders within SLA and coordinates with vendors as needed.
• Troubleshoots and repairs building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical components.
• Performs carpentry, plumbing, painting, and general building repairs.
• Maintains tools and equipment in safe condition and follows safety procedures.
• Participates in emergency response and after-hours work as assigned.
