Job summary

Galveston County is seeking a skilled Facilities Technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on county buildings and systems, troubleshoot issues, and complete work orders with safety and reliability in mind.

The role requires diagnosing problems across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and building components, coordinating with contractors, and following departmental standards and SLAs to keep facilities safe and functional.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED and 3 years of facilities maintenance experience.
• CJIS compliance and valid TX driver’s license required.
• Ability to diagnose complex building systems and perform skilled trades.

Responsibilities

• Independently receives, prioritizes, evaluates, and completes preventive and corrective maintenance work orders.
• Diagnoses building and equipment problems and determines repair methods.
• Maintains tools, equipment, vehicles, and work areas in safe condition.
• Coordinates with contractors and vendors as assigned.
• Participates in emergency response and after-hours work as required.
• Ensures safety procedures and departmental policies are followed.
