Job summary

Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh is seeking an Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations to oversee the Cohon Center portfolio, including daily maintenance, safety, and operation of the university’s event spaces.

Reporting to the Director of the Cohon Center, you will lead facility management, coordinate with partner teams, manage budgets, and supervise two staff, ensuring welcoming, high‑quality environments that support student life and campus events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3–5 years of experience in facility management, operations, project management, or related work.
  • Experience with asset management systems, maintenance technologies, and capital planning strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily facilities operations and be the primary contact for Cohon Center.
  • Coordinate routine maintenance, inspections, and work orders with building partners.
  • Manage facilities budgets, equipment buys, repairs, and non-capital projects.
  • Coordinate with campus partners and external contractors to ensure timely, high-quality service.
  • Conduct safety walkthroughs and ensure compliance with policies and codes.
